This afternoon Mr. Janecke emailed all parents with the following clarification regarding COVID symptoms and rules the school must follow:

The Illinois Department of Public Health and the CDC recommend that a student with COVID symptoms and no diagnostic testing or clinical evaluation must stay home at least 10 calendar days from onset of symptoms. The student may return to school after 10 calendar days if they are fever and symptom free. Furthermore, ALL household members must also quarantine for 14 days, or 10 days after onset of symptoms.

For example, if a student in 3rd grade has a brother that is in 12th grade, and the 3rd grader has COVID symptoms, the 12th grader must also leave school (even if they feel fine and have no symptoms) and quarantine for 14 days.

I hope this helps and prepares you if this should happen to your household. If you have any questions, please contact Andrew Janecke @ (815)789-4289 or the Stephenson County Health Department.

Sincerely,
Andrew Janecke
